Bio

.

"Los Ciegos Del Barrio" are a multi genre Latin music group from New York City. They play Merengue, Bachata, Salsa, Cumbia, Reggaeton, and Rock music in both English and Spanish. The name "Los Ciegos Del Barrio" literally translates to "The Blind Boys from the Hood". The name was originally meant to be a joke, but they ended up keeping it as an ice breaker. Most of the band is legally blind hence the name of the band. They have been playing together since 1997 and have been recording albums since the year 2000.

Los Ciegos Del Barrio

Attention Musicians:

As much as our current members love playing together, we are also looking for extra talent to help out with future shows, rehearsals and recordings in the event that one of our regulars can't make it. Depending on our needs and direction, you may also become a permanent member.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to travel independently.

Must be serious about playing, rehearsing and recording with an established band.

Must be committed and reasonably available. If you play with other groups, it's okay. Just don't flake out on us. If you say you can be with us on a specific date, we're counting on you to show up.

Must be talented. Don't waste our time. If you become a band member, We're happy to show you our repertoir and give you pointers, but we won't have the time to develop anyone. Experience and perhaps lessons are the best teachers.

If you're blind or visually impaired, it's prefered but you don't have to be.

Age and physical appearance do not matter. Just know how to conduct yourself professionally and exhibit good stage presence.

INSTRUMENTS NEEDED:

Latin Percussion: Preferably congas, tambora, timbales and guira. If you play timbales and guira, it's a huge plus.

Trumpet
Saxophone
Trombone
Flute

If you can read music, cool; but if you play by ear and are willing to learn new material, even better. If you sing, it's a plus, but you don't have to be a singer.

That's pretty much it. You will definitely enjoy playing with us. If you or someone you know is interested, leave us a message here on the web site or call us at (347) 886-8686.
